Shared note

Multiple Burrials Single Plot It is reasonably common practice in New Zealand to intern two bodies on top of each other in a single plot, or to intern the cremated remains of a person on top of the remains of a person burried prior. At the time of the first burial the grave is dug to double depth (1.8m) and for the later burial the grave is dug to single depth (the same plot). In early days it was also common for a family plot to be secured to allow the family to be burried together. For excample a family of 8 would secure a plot that is 4 graves wide and allow for double depth burrials. The plot would normally be secured at the time the first member of the family is burried. |
