Geen rede kon in dokumente gevind word vir die afsterwe van die 25 jarige Sophia op 21 Februarie 1748. Verskeie bronne meld egter dat Sophia in 1749 oorlede is en is nie korrek nie. Dit sou beteken dat Andries binne 37 dae met Alida getrou het. Navorsing deur Universiteit van Stellenbosch se genealogiese afdeling toon die datum van 21 Februarie1749, wat foutief is.
