Die volgende is vervat in Leibbrandt se Precis van Requesten p. 1254: Van der Byl, Geertruy; wife of the agriculturist, Hermanus van Brakel; in deep sorrow she states that she married her husband in 1708; that he behaved himself well nine years of the marriage; that during the last six years however, he had taken to drinking, and neglected his affairs, so that everything is falling to ruin; that she has five children; that in consequence of his brutal conduct, his slaves are all running away; that he forces his eldest son to drink, greatly to the disinclination of the latter; that murder will very likely be the result, and that she asks "Veniam Agendi", to proceed for a divorce - granted. (No. 58, 15 June 1723).
